The need for safe, affordable, accessible, and stable housing is one of the most pressing concerns for American Indian and Alaska Native survivors of gender-based violence. For many communities across Indian Country, gender-based violence cases rose to alarming rates during the Covid-19pandemic alerting all tribal programs, from health to housing, to respond. Panel speakers share how their programs are addressing violence while protecting their citizens through access to shelters and safe spaces for survivors.

Some tribes are taking an aggressive approach to drug abuse and distributing in communities by developing awareness campaigns and strengthening housing and other program policies. Other tribes are using a harm reduction approach, this approach is a collection of policy, prevention and health care practices that aim to reduce and prevent harms related to substance abuse such as, loss of housing, overdose, and infectious disease. Panelists share how their programs are combat meth and other drugs in their communities.
